How to Configure your Mozilla Email for EncryptionCamden Computing Services will be implementing a change on August 1, 2006 to increase the security of our e-mail. Specifically, when your Rutgers e-mail travels between your computer and the Rutgers e-mail server, the communication will require encryption. To accommodate this implementation, a couple of settings in your computer's e-mail program must be changed. Unless the changes are made, your Rutgers e-mail won't function correctly after July 31, 2006. Please follow the instructions provided. Launch your Mozilla email program.
Click on Edit in your top toolbar In the window that appears, click on Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings
On the left side of the window click on Server Settings and confirm the "Port" number is 993, and that "Use secure connection (SSL)" is checked
On the left side of the window click on Outgoing Server (SMTP) and make sure the "Port" number is 25 and that "TLS" is checked Note: for LAPTOP users please make sure "TLS, if available" is checked.
Click on OK to update your settings.
Close the Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings window. Be sure to check that your settings have been changed successfully. Please click on Edit / Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings again and confirm that your settings now match the ones listed in the instructions above. |
